Dental and Soft Tissue Surgery
Soft tissue surgery can involve sculpting the gum tissue to increase esthetics around teeth and implants. It can also be a way of reducing the “gummy smile” look by removing extra gum tissue around the teeth to make them appear longer. Some people can have gum recession and we can add your own gum tissue or place bovine tissue to aid in covering up the roots that have experienced gum recession.
The procedure for gum surgery can be done under local anesthesia or IV sedation. The recovery is about one week where patients will be eating softer foods and will need to avoid brushing in the area of the gum surgery. Most patients do well with over the counter pain medication like ibuprofen and tylenol.
